● To promote a greater knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the maritime, industrial and social history of the tidal River Thames, the Port of London and Docklands.

● To engage with groups, individuals and local people to further interest in the subject areas.

● To promote associated education programmes and to organise lectures and conferences.

● To publish proceedings of conferences, talks and other material relating to the Group’s broad area of interest



 Mission Statement



The group was formed in the late 1970s as a forum to bring together people interested in the history of Docklands and who were actively involved in its preservation and recording.  After thirty years it is still going strong with an interesting and varied programme of evening meetings and conferences.    Read More


   THE HISTORY OF THE DOCKLANDS HISTORY GROUP



The group is managed by  a small group of officers and committee-members elected at the AGM  for a period of three years after which they have to offer themselves up for re-election.  The Honorary President, Chris Ellmers, acts as chairman of the Editorial Board.  The current officers and committee members are as follows:
